The Boeing 747-400 "Prototype" (N401PW)
This is a 1/400 scale model of the Boeing company's most successful 747 variant, the Boeing 747-400. This model is from Patriot Models and is the exact replica of the aircraft with registration number N401PW.
The Boeing 747-400 is the most successful 747 variant of all time. With a total of 694 planes produced from 1988 to 2009, it's the most advanced quad-engine, wide body airliner of its time. It features a lot of improvements from its predecessor, most notably: a modern two-crew glass cockpit, improved passenger and payload capacity, and range.
It held the title of the largest passenger airliner until 2007 when the Airbus A380-800 was introduced. Its successor, the Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental, failed to match its success primarily due to poor economics.
50 plus years after the first Boeing 747 rolled out in Everett, Washington, the airliner remains as one of the most iconic, beautiful, and well-known aircraft in the world. The "Jumbo Jet" will remain in the skies for the foreseeable future - proving that the airliner was built to stand the test of time and the ever-evolving commercial aviation market.
