Philippine Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-11ER (N278WA)
This is a 1/200 scale model of Philippine Airline's last "Tri-Hauler", the McDonnell Douglas MD-11. This model is manufactured by JC Wings and is the exact replica of the aircraft with registration number N278WA.
The MD-11 was the last commercial aircraft built by McDonnell Douglas. With only 200 air frames built, this plane wasn't able to duplicate its predecessor's (DC-10) success. For two short years, Philippine Airlines operated four MD-11s and all were leased from World Airways. They were used as complements to the Boeing 747 and the then outgoing DC-10. They were subsequently replaced by the modern Airbus A330 and A340 family of aircraft.
