NASA Boeing 747-123 (SCA) "Polished American Livery" - N905NA and Rockwell Space Shuttle Orbiter "Enterprise" - OV-101
This is a 1/400 scale model both the NASA's Boeing 747-100 Space Shuttle Carrier (SCA) and the Space Shuttle Orbiter "Enterprise". This aircraft was one of two SCA's purchased by NASA and were heavily modified to "piggyback" the orbiters to and from the various launch sites across North America.
Space Shuttle orbiter "Enterprise" is the test aircraft used during the development of space shuttle orbiter in America's space program. It was extensively tested throughout its service life before the first commercial orbiter, Space Shuttle Columbia, took flight in the early 80's. Although orbiter Enterprise wasn't able to reach outer space, its contributions to the success of the program was enormous. Without it, future orbiters wouldn't last 30+ years of service, and the entire program would've surely failed.
These are the exact 1/400 diecast scale models of both the SCA and orbiter Enterprise. A specialty product by Patriot Models, this version of the SCA features a fully polished 747 fuselage, as well as that distinctive cheatline from its former operator - American Airlines.
