Antonov Airlines Antonov AN-225 "Mriya" Highly Detailed 1/400 Diecast Aircraft Model

This is a 1/400 scale model of Antonov Airline's' Antonov AN-225. This is the sole AN-225 to have entered commercial service and the sole airline to operate it. This model is from HX Wings and is the exact replica of the aircraft with registration number UR-82060.

The AN-225, was the world's largest commercial airlifter to enter service. Designed during the Soviet era, it was initially intended as a cargo and orbiter transporter for the Soviet Space Program. When both the regime and program collapsed in 1991, the airliner was put into storage. It was subsequently converted and re-certified into a special cargo airlifter in the 2000's. For more than 20 years, the "Mriya" continued to carry out special cargo missions worldwide.

Unfortunately, in February 2022, the aircraft was destroyed during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Ukrainian government is keen on rebuilding the second AN-225 airframe currently in storage but it's currently unclear when this will commence. Its demise closed a chapter in aviation history.
